So today’s the big day! Maybe it took a little digging, a little planning, even a little soul-searching — but Paris is calling and you’ve decided to fund your trip by selling your unwanted jewelry at Prospyr. Now what?

Good news: The hard part is over, and it’s time to let the experts get to work. Here’s a quick checklist to make preparing to sell even simpler.

First, the DONTs:

  1. DON’T polish your jewelry or coins. In nearly every instance, cleaning can damage and devalue your items – and we want you to get the best possible price.
  2. DON’T assume that we won’t be interested in certain pieces. We love finding treasure in unexpected places, and we’ve found more than one mixed in with the costume jewelry. Believe it or not, we buy broken jewelry, too.
  3. DON’T throw away your original packaging or warranties if you still have them, because they can add value to your offer. (And don’t worry if you don’t have those – most customers don’t!)

Now, the DOs:

  1. DO bring a government-issued I.D, such as a driver’s license or passport. By law, we cannot issue payment without one.
  2. DO plan ahead. The more items you bring, the more time we’ll need to complete a thorough evaluation. Feel free to call your local Prospyr before your visit so we can help plan your time. Walk-ins and appointments are welcome.
  3. DO bring in pre-appraisals, certifications, warranties, original packaging, etc. if you have them. While these items won’t necessarily increase the value of your items, they’ll help us give you the most accurate assessment.

As a reminder, here’s a look at what we buy:

  • Jewelry and coins in any condition, including gold, silver, platinum
  • Palladium bullion and coins
  • Diamonds – loose, mounted, certified and non-certified
  • Sterling silver in any condition, including flatware, hollowware, serving pieces, candlesticks and more
  • Broken pieces, partial sets, the old, the new, the out-of-style … (You get the picture.)
